Assessing the Squad
We’re currently a semi pro side, meaning players are on part time deals with no longer term contracts. I’d like to tie down one or two of the best players on longer contracts if possible. Attacking midfielder, Scott Honeyman, is the best talent in the squad and one to build the team around. He’s not currently interested in a new contract though, so I’ll have to attempt to open negotiations again later in the season.

Transfer Strategy
It’s unlikely that we’ll dip too much into the market, since the club has already maxed out the number of loan deals for the current season. If we can get one or two useful players in on free transfers, great, but ultimately we’ll be keeping faith with the current squad. Over the course of the season, I’ll look to build up a decent shortlist of attainable players for the following season. A new scout would be a useful addition to help with that – currently, the recruitment team is non-existent.
Facilities
The pitch is in terrible condition and needs relaying. I’ve requested this to the board. The ground’s capacity is 2,020, which is below the average league stadium capacity of 3064 (according to AI). That’ll affect ticket sales of course, but with only the one stand there’s also room to grow.
Summary
The squad is likely to change a lot over the course of the next season season or two, but hopefully we can make some progress both on and off the pitch. Ultimately, if we can finish mid-table or higher, get some better players in for the following season, and either maintain or improve the finances I’ll be extremely happy. Avoiding relegation is a must, and we’ll need to overcome the 5 point deduction firstly to kick start our season.
