Players with fantastic passing ability make this tactic tick. To make the most of it, you’ll want a deep lying playmaker with excellent passing ability and vision, as well as an aggressive ball winner in the middle to mop up space behind the wing backs and give the creative players more freedom. A lone target man plus good height in the squad will help you make the most of set pieces and bully the opposition. With just two center backs you might be surprised at how tight you’ll be defensively – by keeping the ball you’ll restrict opposition chances. This tactic saw me break the Championship record for number of clean sheets in a season.
